Commander Cody, the genre-busting frontman of the legendary Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen, returns to The Palms with his current band on Friday, June 22.
Rooted in the late 1960s Bay Area music scene, Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen soon became known for their own musical blend, which included boogie-woogie, rock n roll, country, western swing, and psychedelia. In addition to the Commander, who set the tone with his red-hot boogie-woogie piano playing, the band featured the talents of Bill Kirchen on lead guitar and Bobby Black on steel guitar, among other talented musicians and singers.
Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen were most well known for their song “Hot Rod Lincoln.” They have recorded many influential albums, including “Hot Licks, Cold Steel, and Truckers Favorites”, “Lost In The Ozone”, and “Live From Deep In The Heart of Texas,” which Rolling Stone’s named one of its Top 100 albums of all time.
Doors open at 7:30 PM. Music begins at 8:00 PM. There will be two 45-60 minute sets with a short intermission.
